Nov 17, 2010 · I just installed KAV 2011 on my 64 bit Win 7 laptop and I noticed that KAV installed itself in the (x86) program files instead of the 64 program files. It didnt give me the choice of which directory to install it in. It just defaulted to the 86 instead of the 64. Is that right for KAV to install

In theory, there's no reason why a 32-bit program won't work if you manually install it to your Program Files folder, and vice versa — 64-bit programs should work fine if you install them to the Program Files (x86) folder. It's a better idea to leave them right where Windows wants them, however. There is a bug in WixUI_Advanced sequence that causes the Destination Folder dialog to display the app folder under C:\Program Files (x86) instead of C:\Program Files when running on a 64-bit machine, even when the code correctly sets app folder to ProgramFiles64Folder property.
